Ultrabase problem

The ultrabase for my Thinkpad x61 is damaged and needs to be replaced. Since this model has been discontinued, I wonder what my options are. Is there somewhere I can find an ultrabase to use as a replacement? Alternately, can I just plug in a USB optical drive? I don`t really need the additional ports provided by the ultrabase, but I do need an optical drive.

And yes, you can just use an external usb drive. I kinda like the ultrabase coz you can adapt another hard drive to it and switch them back and forth with the optical drive.

Yes Ultrabase comes very handy.

It would be sad to abandon the idea. eBay might provide a solution indeed.

Just verify that the seller is already a trusted one with good previous feedback from customers (purchasers).
