1. I don't use Ultrabase and I always use external mouse plugged to the laptop.
2. Power management driver is 22.214.171.124

for some reason when i use the lenovo drivers, text selection is also weird in word. when i select a section of text, some parts of it are not blue. sometimes they are either gray or light yellow. this doesn't happen in the intel driver.
ever since upgrading to the intel drivers, i have been having weird problems with brightness controls. when ever i am running on battery power, the brightness doesn't go as low as i like. whenever i change the brightness setting in power manager, after a restart the settings go away. i've reinstalled power manager which didn't help. reverting back to the the lenovo video drivers fixed it though.
so so far with the lenovo driver i get the following problems: input freezing and weird text selection colors in word. with the intel drivers my problems are that the brightness controls doesn't seem to stay and the brightness setting goes back whenever i do a restart.
please fix this problem

Version 126.96.36.1994 of the video driver released on 2010/08/06 promises a solution for the freezing. The changes say:
(Fix) Fixed an issue that might freeze mouse operation for just a moment when repeating to open/close software from thumbnails on the Windows task bar.

wow so did anyone try it yet? i hope it really does fix it
edit: i am downloading it right now. i have the drivers downlaod page saved as a bookmark. when i went to the site, it still showed the old driver version and date but it takes you to the newer one when you click on it. Lenovo still hasn't updated the driver download page with the correct number

Yes. the driver download page has not been updated. I used google to search "188.8.131.524" and found this lenovo page.
I'm going to give it a try. Will report later.

it seems to have fixed the text selectoin problem where in Microsoft word selecting text will give out different colors rather than the regular blue. so far haven't froze yet. i'm pretty happy right now. but then the freezing happens randomly so will have to try it out for a few more days

Is there an official fix for this issue yet? My system is completely up to date and I'm still experiencing these issues? I've had my system for 1 month and I must say I've been quite disappointed with my X201. I've never encountered so many problems in such little time with any other laptop that I have owned.. The X201 ThinkPad is marketed as a solid, reliable system, however I can't justify paying so much for this system that has so many issues.
This is my first Lenovo, and I had intended to use it as my primary laptop for school yet I can't even use it half of the time. This is completely unacceptable by Lenovo. Lenovo has to acknowledge that there is a problem, release an official statement and find a fix soon if they intend to keep their customer base. I really want to like this machine for it's power and portability, but at this point I wouldn't recommend the X201 ThinkPad to anyone. This isn't the only problem that I have encountered on my system either. My laptop also suffers from the random changes to screen contrast ratio, as mentioned in another thread on this forum: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Lapt
I am aware of the temporary "fix" by changing the graphics properties power plan settings to maximum performance, however this dramatically reduces the batter life and defeats one of the main purposes of why I bought the machine in the first place which was to benefit from the extended use that the 9 cell battery provides. I can only imagine what other issues I am going to run into on my 2nd month of being a proud X201 owner. I really hope Lenovo steps their game up, or they'll lose another customer and this machine just might find its way onto eBay real soon!

@optimuspep: I hear ya. I got the X201t for school/art work, and it's become sort of a running joke how glitchy it is. All this after three months of customer support hell, just trying to get it to ship. I really thought Lenovo was a tier above the HPs and Dells of the industry, but after what i've been through, i don't even look at Lenovo when researching new products.

Bought an x201 a few weeks ago, arrived last Friday and experienced the BLUE TOOTH MOUSE LAG. Randomly throughout the day the BLUETOOTH MOUSE would freeze anywhere from 5 to 30 seconds at a time. A few times the BT Mouse did not reconnect and I had to shut the system off / turn back on. Shheeeesh.
Anyways, a little Google here and there and the new driver is indeed the fix:
Install this ASAP if experiencing the BTMLAG:
and yes my 3D went up .1 and Aero Experience went down .1 (negligible).
I am happy there is no longer any BTMLAG and I love my x201!
