X200 wireless stops working suddenly

I have a X200 which was working really well till 3 days back. It acts a little bit weird as below:

1) the wireless just stops working and shows d/c eventhough other devices are workinhg well with the internet. The wireless indicator also gets off though the loggle on the left hand side is at the on position.

2) using fn+f5 doest help as the usuall Lenovo wireless box doesnt show up.

3) The wireless is reactiveated only after a restart

4) Have done all the updates possible and also a Virus scan.

Can you help me out here..

Re: X200 wireless stops working suddenly

go into your control panel, under system, go into your system property then go into wireless card property. Under the property page, make sure the power output is max, roaming aggressiveness is low/minimum and also there is no windows power saving that allows the wireless card to be switched off during idling.

Re: X200 wireless stops working suddenly

I tried accessing te device manager and to my suprise my Wireless card was not being detected at all.. I then restarted it and suddenly my card appears again. I went into the properties and tried to apply the changes you mentioned but nothing worked... I will give it another shot again.

Do you know why this is happening ? U think my wireless adapter may be screwed ?

My Thinkpad model is 7454-CTO

Re: X200 wireless stops working suddenly

this could be either a software glitch or a hardware problem with the wireless card. Do you have warranty still?

Re: X200 wireless stops working suddenly

I have seen situations similar to this one but the wireless card has always been visible in the device manager.

I think there maybe something to rule out, I have tried this in the past the wireless card can be removed and reseated by removing the keyboard undoing 2 screws and popping off the anntenna wires sliding the wireless card out then reseating the chip.

You should only do this under the guidance of an IBM or Lenovo tech its no more difficult than reseating a ram chip except you need to be very careful not to scratch or harm the mainboard in any way and be properly earthed against static charge shocks to the mainboard.

Re: X200 wireless stops working suddenly

PDF page 110 in document page number 102 shows the card removal replacement you must remove the keyboard and maybe the palmrest but that is about a 5 minute job.
