X201 - CPU compability

Hi,

is there a cpu compability list for the x201? - I couldn't find one.

What I actually want to know is, if my colleague's X201 (3626-w16) is able to accept an i7-2720qm (G1, PGA988b) instead of its i5-540m (PGA988).

Regards, Chris

Re: X201 - CPU compability

Hi Chris,

X201 CPUs are soldered to the motherboard, so you can't upgrade them.

Hope this helps!

I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

Re: X201 - CPU compability

I was on the same line of thinking of a CPU switch, but seeing how they are sodered into the board I may change my plan.
The goal: to get the multitouch working with the 540M cpu.
The parts: 2x X201, (1x- 2985fsu [540M, no MT], 1x- 2985fcu [540UM, MT])

I was hoping to just switch the cpu, but that is apparently not an option.
Can I replace the entire screen from the FCU model onto the FSU model, or would the FSU board also not handle the Multitouch hardware if installed?
