I've been trying to find comparison pictures of the X220 with a 6-cell and 9-cell battery, without much luck. I want to see how much the 9-cell sticks out vs the 6-cell.
Has anyone seen such a picture anywhere?

If you go to youtube and search for "x220 review" you'll see different variations in the different videos. Personally, I ordered mine with the four-cell (for around 5-6 hours of battery life when I'm out of the office for just a little while) to keep it under three pounds, AND the nine-cell (for 12-14 hours of battery life) for when I'm at an all-day conference and don't want to lug along the A/C adapter. For the extra two ounces of the nine-cell vs. the six-cell, who cares what it looks like when you've got 50% more battery life?

Ok, I will try to search the review pics...
Edit: I found a good youtube vid, which showed the 9-cell sticking out like mad... Definitely don't want that... I'll stick with the 6-cell when it comes time to order.

is it weird that i kind of like the batteries that stick out the back? on my x120e, i usually use it as kind of a grip to carry and open the lid.

I don't like the 9-cell battery. When I bought the x220 the 9/cell bat was the only option. So I figured it would fit nicely without sticking out.
Question: Does the 6-cell battery sticks out at all or should I go for the 4-cell?

The 6-cell does not stick out at all (it is exactly flush with the back of the X220 case). At the time of my purchase, 6-cell was standard and 9-cell was a free optional upgrade but I didn't want it to stick out. Get the 4-cell only if you need the lightest weight possible -- I think the battery life would be too much of a compromise.

I'll go for the 6-cell. Thanks for clarification Richard.

Carlos - welcome to the forum!
the 4-cell runs about 4 hours with an i5-2520M under normal use with wifi on, two memory modules, an intel SSD, and display at 8~9 brightness. the 6-cell adds a couple hours under the same conditions.

Hi,
I'm going to buy a X220. I think I'll avoid the 9 cell battery just because it sticks out in the back. Anyway also the 6 cell it sticks out a little bit in the bottom, as you can see here, even if that doesn't give problems of stabilty as stated here. So I was wondering if buying a 4 cell battery, but before I'd like to know if the 4 cell battery is taller as the 6 cell one or less. Do you have any idea?
