X220 - Card Reader Not Showing in Device Manager

Question

I've tried putting in an SDHC card in my laptop but it doesn't show up.  Looked at Device Manager and there isn't even anything showing up.  I tried installing the drivers provided on the support site but it still isn't working.  What can be done?

Answer

(1) Confirm whether the hardware is detected and the device driver loaded by checking in  the device manager

(2) If not shown, or if there is a yellow (!) bang next to the hardware, try to download and  install the Ricoh card reader driver (v2.14.18.01) or later from the support site.  

(3) If the manual driver update fails, try running TVSU (ThinkVantage System Update) - this utilitiy is located in the ThinkVantage directory.
