Hello
I have two queries.
1.
I have a relative flying in from the US within a couple of months. I took advantage of blackfriday deals and bit the bullet to purchase an x220, main reason being battery life and IPS screen.
She sent me a photo which is here http://i39.tinypic.com/x1nc07.jpg
As you can see the image is somewhat low quality but the x220 appears to be blueish (where as IPS lingers on yellow)
and both the x220 and macbook pro 15" are supposed to avg of 250nits but the macbook appears to be double the
brightness.
Here are the DXdiag details for it:
Current Mode: 1366 x 768 (32 bit) (60Hz)
Monitor Name: Wide viewing angle & High density FlexView Display 1366x768
Monitor Model: unknown
Monitor Id: LEN40E2
Native Mode: 1366 x 768(p) (59.850Hz)
My query is could someone provide me with a few quick methods which I can request my relative to perform and confirm
if it's truly an IPS and an IPS that's functioning properly at 250-300nits brightness. This will eliminate the fear thats stirred
in me from that low quality photo.
2.
In the Dxdiag info I could not find any information about bluetooth though I ordered with bluetooth 3.0.
Whats a quick way to know if it came with bluetooth 3.0 or not?
Thank you
core

How do you switch BT on? I found the icon and click it and tried to find a way to enable it but did not see how to make sure it is on. On my old machine it always appeared in the taskbar tray but not here (not hidden either as I looked at them all).
Colonel - I ran the parts check and got this on my X220 - is this IPS? I recall something on this but at time of purchase 6 months ago did not think anything about it. My machine showed Bluetooth as well but can see evidence of it active on my machine - but it does show active in msconfig under service and startup.

No need to turn BT on. Look at the Device Manager in the Control Panel. It should say:
Intel® Centrino® Wireless Bluetooth® 3.0 + High Speed Devices

Ok - I did the parts list thing - as noted above - but cannot decipher the code.
When reviewing the LCD entry - what should we look for to confirm IPS? Txs

I have an X220 with IPS screen, and a MacBook Pro 15" with the hi-res, non glossy screen option.
My MacBook Pro screen is obviously brighter, although I wouldn't say double the X220. I think that pure white is slightly bluish on the MacBook Pro and slightly yellowish on the X220. Colors are more saturated on the MacBook Pro.
