I have a new X220 running Win 7 Pro. I have it connected to an HP 2509m external monitor using a Display Port to HDMI cable.
Every time I connect the laptop to the external monitor, the laptop's volume control shows up on screen every time there's a sound (double clicking on a folder, email notification, etc). If I then restart the laptop while keeping it connected to the external monitor, the problem goes away. That is, until the next time I disconnect from the external monitor and later plug it back in, when the cycle repeats.
The pic below shows the volume control popping up after clicking on a folder. FYI this monitor was previously used with a Dell laptop without any issues.
Any suggestions?
