JNavas, i have no idea what are you talking about.
my personal experience that with 2418 driver i got performance bust in Fallout New Vegas is about to 40%
to compare with 2342. (before minimum fps was 23 with new drivers 32)
In NFS Shift with 2342 minimum fps was 17 with driver version 2418 is 27. etc.
all you said above just bla-bla-bla. you trying discuss in topic where you have no idea whats going on.
simple enjoy your very old driver. 2342 have only one advantage it doesn't throtle so much as 2418.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. What I posted are facts. No call to be rude. Have a nice day. ![]()

Why does it take a month or more for Lenovo to repackage Intel's drivers? I'd be happy if Lenovo just provided the Intel drivers as-is if they're going to take so long re-zipping them and typing up a useless "read me" file.[1]
On a side note, I haven't noticed any slow down graphically. I haven't run any benchmarks (other than WEI) but when I play my FPS games, they seem to work fine with decent frame rates. Sure does get hot near the exhaust port though.[2]
[1] Less than a month is actually a short time by industry standards. The reason is that Lenovo is responsible to all its customers, including enterprises that purchase large volumes of machines, and can't afford to rush out drivers with minimal benefits that might create huge issues for its customers. Lenovo probably does its own testing of drivers in its own systems, which takes time, and some delay also allows for feedback from other users of Intel drivers. You can tell early adopters by the arrows in their backs, and Intel drivers are notorious for issues and bugs.
[2] This kind of minor driver update will tend to have little or no benefit in the majority of applications, so unless you have a specific issue the driver addresses, it's best to wait.

go to intel.com site then in the search box at very top right corner type 2430 or 2462
then there will be drop down list appears and first string there will be 2430 for example
point your mouse cursor there and you will see popup menu at left from your cursor
choice there "drivers and files" -> and you will go to secret intel drivers ^__^
they will give you some nice fps gain in games. up to 50% to compare with lenovo preinstalled drivers
but there is 2 problems
1st. Install these drivers a little tricky.
a. download new drivers
b. turn off your internet connection
c. go to device manager find intel drivers and delete it (mark checkbox include soft)
d. reboot
e. Windows will start trying install drivers - cancel it
f. Install your downloaded drivers
g. reboot
2nd problem in brighteset. you will notice that your dispaly is twice brigther than before
to reset it back to default lenovo states run regedit and find Key called 'FeatureTestControl' value will be f800
replace it with f940. find next. replace all. REBOOT.
enjoy.

-> Hi @ all. Im from Germany and I had problems with game performance so I was reading this thread for weeks now.
Right now im very happy because the text above helped me a lot to gain more FPS in many games. 25-50% wasnt a lie. JNavas, you rely on facts and I like that, but in this case Bender957 was right. It may depend on what Driver you had installed before, in my case it was the newest Lenovo driver.
I also tried installing a new one with device manager "search for new drivers" - that worked but nothing improved.
In fact I gained like +20 FPS which is quite a lot. Thanks @ Bender957 for the guide.
I dont want to restart the "fight" and throw new unproofed material among you guys but I tested benders hint and it worked for me.
All in all, Intel Turbo boost+ still doesnt work on my device. I turn it on, the fan makes some noise but performance and CPU-frequency keeps the same.
CPU-Z shows 2998 mhz and sometimes 789 or something. I never reach 3,2GHZ. Also lenovo performance tool shows GPU staying at 100%, instead of rising to more.
Long story short : Bender gave a nice Tip to improve game performance, throttling issue isnt fixed anyway so all of us, including the happy +20fps guy (me) will wait for the BIOS update announced until the end of the month.
Some info : I have X220t (IPS) 4GB ram, Win7 pro 64bit and most important : Core i5
| Prozessor | Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2520M CPU @ 2.50GHz | 7,1 |
| ||
| Arbeitsspeicher (RAM) | 4,00 GB | 5,9 | |||
| Grafik | Intel(R) HD Graphics Family | 4,7 | |||
| Grafik (Spiele) | 1696 MB insgesamt verfügbarer Grafikspeicher | 6,2 | |||
| Primäre Festplatte | 17GB frei (126GB gesamt) | 7,4 |
Hard Disk score was some time at 7,8 ( ;D ) due to my OCZ Vertex 2 160GB SSD. (lenovo uses samsung?)
Graphics just rised from 6,1 to 6,2 . That migth just be a "bug" or tolerance from windows performance index (or how it was named in english
)
- Score just did not change a lot, but performance in games inproved a lot ![]()
Oh and I used 2430 driver.

Ok, so the X series (X220 I7, intel SSD) is "NOT" a gaming laptop! I run multiple Virtual Machines for development without any throttling and this is on both battery (my modified power setting) and AC (standard 90 watt charger) both with Turbo (the battery handles my air time). Whoever thought an ultraportable was a gaming machine may have been smoking an illegal subsance (well U.S.)!

if this allow plays games with comfortable fpd and graphics detail why this is "NOT" a gaming laptop? no, srsly, why? ^^
games just a kind of computer applications. they should work if hardware allow it. and shouldn't throttle anyway

The term "gaming laptop" refers to a particular market segment aimed at gaming enthusiasts. No laptop with only Intel HD graphics falls into that category. Just because the X220 (or other laptop) can run game applications doesn't make it a gaming laptop.
Even if this is not a marketing perversion called "gaming laptop" it doesn't means that you can't enjoy games with x220 with comfortable enough graphics settings and comfortable frame rates. And there is a dramatic diffirence between 1st generation of Intel HD and 2nd generation of this chip.
Actually x220 really surprised me with performance in games. Its amazing. I only want solution for throttling issue.

The minor increase in WEI Gaming Graphics from 6.1 to 6.2, with significant improvement in some (not all) games, is in fact just what I wrote. That may make non-Lenovo driver hassles worth it for you, but not for me.
The X220 can be used for less demanding games, but is by no stretch of the imagination a "gaming laptop":
Intel HD 3000 (X220) 8900 6715
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M * 57014 26329
* Alienware M17x R3 GTX 580M i7-2820QM ["gaming laptop"]
"The glossy screen, the keyboard ghosting, the GPU throttling on battery power, and the high price tag are its main flaws."

Performance of many SSD drives (including OCZ Vertex 2) declines over time, expecially if you don't TRIM regularly.
FWIW, my new 80GB Intel 310 mSATA SSD currently has 7.7 WEI. I use the Intel SSD Toolbox to TRIM it weekly.

I returned my defective X220 about six weeks ago and after waiting a while to see if I could order a "works-as-advertised" replacement X220 I finally gave up and got a 13" Apple Air. After 40 years as a PC and IBM-Lenovo guy I am pleased.
