Panasonic UJ-890A So why not the T420s?

I find I use an optical drive less and less often, and it's nice not to always carry around the extra bulk and weight, but when I do need one for the X220, I use a slim external Panasonic UJ-890A. If you want to burn Blu-ray, the Panasonic UJ-240 fits in the same slim case.

Hi JameZ, yes I have the 15.3.8.0 drivers. The problem is that I normally rest my thumb on the left button. With this "one piece" track pad design, it makes using it impossible because it randomly thinks I'm doing a multi-touch gesture so I get random zooms, pointer jumps, etc. The two finger scrolling, flat out, doesn't work. I personally prefer the TrackPoint to any TouchPad, but the TouchPad on the X220 works well for me. Have you tried adjusting TouchPad Settings? There are a wealth of configuration options, including Sensitivity of many gestures, and Smart Check can help to avoid accidental gestures.

Someone on the NotebookReview forums mentioned it and I started using it. I find it to be MUCH more reliable than either the Lenovo or Synaptics drivers.

Sorry guys for driving this thread off topic..I just wanted to make a few quick replies and then maybe any additional comments should be sent via PM to keep the thread clean unless the admits don't mind..In which case I don't mind continuing to talk about the X220 beyond the throttling issue.

I have heard of the Synaptic drivers and I will try them. Two finger scroll doesn't work "well" to put it lightly..Trust me, I tried. I've also played with all the settings and while they work ok while adjusting the settings (in the "try out" areas), in reality, it doesn't work nearly as well.

I didn't get a T-series because I need it to be extra small and powerful. I do multi-month/multi-country backpack traveling occassionally and every ounce counts. So a extra inch here, and inch there adds to my already heavy pack load. I have even considered running Bootcamp/Win7 on the new i5 Macbook Airs (I don't care for OSX even though I'm a former Mac guy) since the Air not having a optical drive is no longer a disadvantage (compared to the X220) and the Air is ridiculously small. I also already have a small optical drive but again, it's one of those things that I may not want to pack because I'd rather have something else in my pack. With my X301, it was all built-in and tidy. No extra cables, etc.

I use a standard brick 90W PS at home/work and my travel PS is the newer/smaller 90W travel PS so the 2nd SODIMM should be no problem. Hopefully, Lenovo will have a fix out soon and we can put this "problem that never should have been" to rest.

UPDATE: So I finally received my RAM...got a killer deal, 2x 4GB (8GB) Mushkin PC3-10666 for $33.50 shipped! (Newegg Shellshocker deal...finally something other than a cheap wristwatch or a shaver) and re-ran WEI. This time, my RAM score was 7.5. Definitely worth the $33.50 and now I have a spare 4GB PC3-10666 SODIMM to boot.

i5 also affected with this problem not only i7. at least i5-2520.
