Perhaps like me he got one of the deals Lenovo was offering that made the i7 cheaper than the i5.
tvmaniac36: You probably wouldn't notice any difference.

I have just bougth X220 yesterday in Hong Kong, I have found that the BIOS is 1.20, while the throttling problem still happend , I have tried to close the Intel sppedstep in bios, but the problem still happend.
When the problem can be solved...

The only real solution (at least for now) is to get a 90W power adapter, which unfortunately is much bigger and heavier.
That's because the apparent basic cause of the problem is the standard 65W power adapter being unable to deliver enough power for full system performance.
What the ThinkPad X220 needs is a small, light power adapter with a bit more capacity (72W-75W).

Sorry. The 90W adapter is not THAT big and THAT heavy. its a little (not the slim edition) bigger and a little heavier, but its still ok, even for a ultraportable (compared to the 65W).
Additionally, the 90W adapter did not fix the throttle on my system.
