Re: X220 CPU throttling problem

well I'm using SSD and don't play games/apps that requires much CPU power. Everything is still so fast with my i7. I guess it would be faster now without throttling issue?

Perhaps like me he got one of the deals Lenovo was offering that made the i7 cheaper than the i5.

tvmaniac36: You probably wouldn't notice any difference.

Hope that helps,
John

The only real solution (at least for now) is to get a 90W power adapter, which unfortunately is much bigger and heavier.
That's because the apparent basic cause of the problem is the standard 65W power adapter being unable to deliver enough power for full system performance.

What the ThinkPad X220 needs is a small, light power adapter with a bit more capacity (72W-75W).

Hope that helps,
John

Re: X220 CPU throttling problem

Sorry. The 90W adapter is not THAT big and THAT heavy. its a little (not the slim edition) bigger and a little heavier, but its still ok, even for a ultraportable (compared to the 65W).

Additionally, the 90W adapter did not fix the throttle on my system.

Re: X220 CPU throttling problem

according to mark from lenovo, it's going to be a few more days - http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/X220-cpu-throttling-problem/td-p/428879/page/63

hopefully the bios fix will indeed be available sometime next week!
