Has anybody sent his x220 in for service yet?

Just got my X220 i7. Fan is on constantly!!!!
FALSE REVIEWS!
"The default fan speed is whisper quiet--so much so that you have to put the notebook to your ear in order to hear the fan at all."

perhaps considering writing to lenovo about the fan-issue, it is certainely not an exception
my fan on x220 core i5 runs up and down, the wind blows like a hurricane, i can dry my hair with the fan
realley a shame for such an expensive machine

x220, i5, bios 1.06
fan was constantly on, very loud and disturbing noise. after i installed tpfc with standard settings (smart) everything is ok. but temperature is now with normal use (office, internet, ...) between 60 and 64 C.
does anyone have experience with such "high" temperatures? are there any negative effects to expect in the long term?

flynn1982,
60-64C is not "hot" as systems generally go... however, your temps seem a bit higher than some others have reported. 5-10C differences could be a factor of application load, ambient temp, and whether airflow to system is restricted.
Jamez has escalated this issue to engineering and we are looking into it. This discussion is just a week old, so I'd ask for a bit of time to work on this.
I should also extend a thanks to you and others on this thread for reporting the issue and sharing the specifics ...
Thanks!
Mark
