X301: Drivers Missing PCI Serial Port and PCI Simple Communications Controller [ Edited ]

Hello,

 I am using ThinkPad X301 (2776-3HG). I had to format and  reinstall my windows 7 and I have the following problems:

1. I am missing the PCI Serial Port Driver

2. I am missing the PCI Simple Communications Driver

3. My finger reader does not seem to work (not sure if it is because of the missing drivers or I am also missing something else)

Any assistance on these issues will be greatly appreciated.

For 1 and 2  you need this:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-73567

For 3 you probably need this:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-73673

Be sure to read the installation instructions, sometimes the drivers require two steps for installation and the second setup needs to installed from C:\Drivers\....

Hello and thank you for your reply.

I have now doanloaded 1, but my system still tells me that I am missing the PCI simple communications Installer. What do you think might be the problem?

Try also installing the following driver:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-73723.html

Be sure to extract the second package from C:\Drivers if the wizard at the end doesn't ask you 'if you want to install of run the driver now'.

Thank you, this solved my drivers problems.

However I am still facing a problem with my finger print reader. I have installed the driver you have adviced with no problems, and when I go into the software, and try to configure my finger readings, I get the following error message:

'Cannot communicate with sensor. Please confirm the sensor is ready'

Any ideas of what I am missing?

In case it helps someone else, I had a problem with the fingerprint reader on an X301 from eBay under Windows 7. It turned out that it was disabled in the BIOS. Didn't occur to me that that might be a possibility... Sill, I guess..

I followed the instructions you gave to Marinos. The 1st link solved the 1st problem (missing PCI Serial Port) but the driver for "PCI Simple Communications Controller" is still missing. I tried to download the driver behind the link http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-73​723.html you posted but that link just brought me back to the home page of the Lenovo support site.

Any idea how I can search for this driver on the Lenovo support site?
