X60s, Win Seven - During install "required CD/DVD drive device driver missing" [ Edited ]

Hello,

I would update my ThinkPad X60s. Actually, Windows XP Pro SP3 is installed, but I wanna run Windows Seven.

When I'm trying to install Seven, early in the installation a dialog box appears stating that a CD/DVD rom driver is missing and that i have to install it before i can do anything else. It gives me the option to install the driver by browsing the drives on my computer.

Which driver do I need exactly ?

Windows 7 setup should support the SATA controller. I have no trouble installing it normally on a T60 and X61...

I've seen this error before, one of the many reasons it happens is when you've a bad media or burn of Win 7 DVD.

At first, I've installed Seven with a USB disk : this error appeared.

Now, I've burnt Seven on a DVD : this error appeared. too...

I've downloaded the lastest driver ATA ATAPI Controller , but it doesn't work. Moreover, I must uncheck the checkbox saying "show only drivers supported by Seven" to show the drivers in the list after the ATA ATAPI Controller is selected.

Do you have the SATA option set to Compatibility or AHCI in BIOS?

Yes, I've changed the SATA option. Compatibility or AHCI : they don't work...

An error occurs (blue screen when Windows XP is loading) when AHCI is chosen.

I suppose you could try giving it the Intel Rapid Storage Technology F6 drivers using a flash drive or something.

What if you launched the install from within XP?

When I launch the DVD, errors appears :

E:/Sources\SPWIZENG.DLL is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.

The above error is then followed by the following error.

"The file autorun.dll could not be loaded or is corrupt. Setup cannot continue. Error code is [0xc1]"

I'm a student and I've downloaded win7 online (MSDNAA license)

Can you give me this file ?

You might want to check the MD5 or SHA-1 of your ISO.
