battery life not lasting

Has anyone been able to get even close to the 11hr battery life on the x201 with the 9-cell battery? I haven't -- maybe there something I'm missing...

11 hr with a X201? i don't think that would be possible, it maybe remotely possible with the X201s.

how long would be a reasonable amount of time using just gmail and ms word? I think I get about 4 hours. But lately I've noticed that my fan is running constantly --- is it possible there are some background programs heating up my machine -- I don't know how this could be because I adjusted the computer to only start the most basic few programs on startup --- any advice?

are you using the laptop on full performance mode or on battery saver mode?

I'm using power source optimized and battery stretch.

under battery stretch mode you should get at least 7 hrs on a 9 cells battery with the X201.

Have you tried to update the bios on your machine?

Yes BIOS have been updated. Any other thoughts?

.... The battery gauge tells me I only have 5 hrs battery on 93% charge ---- does this sound correct?
