Lenovo has confirmed that this is a problem with Power Manager 1.90 for XP. A patch is in the works, but I don't know exactly when it will be released. Until then, here are two possible work-arounds:
1. uninstall power manager 1.90 and use the prior version of power manager that someone posted earlier. Versions of power manager prior to 1.90 do not have this problem.
2. install the latest thinkvantage active protection service: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/documen
the crash in power manager 1.90 occurs because power manager is trying to access the active protection service. On systems where the active protection service is not installed (or disabled), a crash can occur. This is why some users don't see the problem even if they are using power manager 1.90.
I understand how frustrating it must be to "upgrade" your software only to encounter a crash after every reboot. Please let me know if one of the two work-arounds offered above won't work for you, until a patch becomes available.

Having the same problem. Also after installaing the latest power manager laptop became very unstable. Suspend/sleep doesnt work and it just shuts itself after two minutes.
Fallback solved all the issues..
