fwss23.iso - unable to create bootable CD

I am trying to update firmware of my Samsung SSD with the fwss23.iso from http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-69806 unfortunately I am not able to create bootable CD by burning that ISO to a blank CDR. When I see the ISO file on HDD, it has about 30 MB. Yet when I use WinRAR in order to check its content - its empty! Further, when I check the content of the CD I just burned via WIndows explorer - its empty as well.... What am I doing wrong?

What you're seeing is normal. Boot your system from the CD and follow the firmware upgrade instructions.

Thank you for yoru reply. I' ve attempted to boot from 6 CDs that I have  burned. Each time the notebook hangs with a blinking cursor in the upper left corner.

I am obviously doing something wrong since even a different ISO package I downloaded from Lenovo (it should upgrade my bios to enable SSD secure erase) behaves like that as well - just blinking cursor...

Do I have to use my X301 to download and burn that ISO? I am using my T400 to do so since X301 SSD's is empty right now. Or - do I have to use some specific burning software? In the documentation from Lenovo there is "Sonic" on the screenshot. I am using Roxio...

Hello,

Have you tried using a different program to create the bootable CD, such as ImgBurn or CDBurnerXP?  If so, what were the results?
