mute button on new X1 laptop not working

hi there

i just received a replacement lenovo x1 laptop after the one that i'd been using very happily for a few months was stolen. everything seems to work perfectly, as before, with the exception of the mute button. everything else on the right panel (power, blue vantage button, volume and mic mute button) works perfectly, but the mute button doesn't respond at all, either in terms of muting the sound or lighting up.

Boot into the bios press F1, and then press the mute button, the mute button works in bios menu. If the light on the mute button doesn't come on and off when pressed, then you have a hardware problem.
