systems beeps on wake - x200s

since the day i have had this system about 50% of the time i try to wake it by opening it after it's been closed i get the following system beeps and a blank screen that doesn't even have power to it.

these are beeps:

one..... one, two three... one, two three..... one 

so 8 in total, two are single (the first and last) and the other six are in tight groups of 3

anyone have an idea of what this could be? can it be fixed? i've checked web documents and haven't found anything re the beeps.

Beep decoder says DIMM or System Board problem. I recommended getting this fixed under warranty. You could try reseating your memory cards first.

To reseat the memory DIMM cards, remove and then reinstall them. While you have the cards out, inspect the gold connector pins along the edge of the card, and the socket into which it plugs, for debris. If you have a can of air, clean the cards and the socket.

The Hardware Maintenance Manual describes how to remove and reinstall the memory, but it is probably easier just to watch the movie!

Nope, it won't void your warranty. Memory cards are CRUs (Customer Replaceable Units).
