thinkpad x220 cmos battery location

my BIOS date/time gets reset every time i remove the battery from my x220 (but if I keep the AC power plugged, it's fine). I'm thinking about replacing it myself, and wondering if anyone knows how I can access the cmos battery on the x220?

Any pictures/diagrams etc. will be helpful!

I strongly suggest you contact the support and let them replace it for you. There are several different types of battery, all looks the same, with different pin-out, different voltage, and different characteristics.

So I called lenovo to send me a new cmos battery, which they promptly did.

I open up my machine, and guess what I find? NO FREAKING CMOS BATTERY AT ALL INSIDE THE MACHINE!

What kind of system is lenovo selling to us? These shouldn't be called "thinkpad" at all. The design and build quality is pretty lame compared to previous thinkpads. My old Z60m and X41 are weeping.

the bios battery is listed on the parts list, so it should be there.

Yes, I fully expected to see a drained cmos battery in my machine. But there was none at all...  Now I'm not even sure how I fix this new battery in place... there doesn't seem to be a place to fit it in or anything... do I just leave it danging around?!

look under FRU RTC battery, the battery lives under the right hand side of your palmrest.
