My z60m needs your help! Please anyone? (Recovery disks needed)

I accidentally modified my MBR with a Ubuntu Karmic Koala install.  It changed the MBR and now the R&R partition will not restore to factory defaults.  Thinkpad told me the only solution is to run the recovery disks.

I did not make these, and now I am suffering.  Please, someone with their thinkpad winXP image on their z60m can you help?  It is possible to make recovery CDs inside the thinkpad tools on windows xp.  Could someone please make them and ship them to me?  (If you have some, can you loan them to me?)  I can pay you for your time and effort.  I have paypal and can pay for shipping, discs, time, etc... Please just name your price.

Thank you so much,

Brian

i am not sure whether the kind soul habskilla would lend you the set of the discs or you could ask sfraden to see whether he is willing to help you out. If worst comes to worst, you can order the discs from Lenovo.

They told me since my computer was out of warranty, they could not sell me the disks. They also told me the only way to make the disks was through windows xp. My recovery partition will load, it just can't complete the restore.  I think I'm sunk unless this habskilla can help out...know anyway to reach him?

Actually the disks can be sold whether you are in warranty or out of warranty, if it is out of warranty it is just considered a sale parts.

I must have had a newb or a rude one, because he told me it was a privilege technical support was even talking to me free of charge, let alone selling me a recovery disk for out of warranty product!!! The nerve really!  I will try contacting the sales department, maybe I will have better luck there.  Thanks!

For anyone who is curious, I managed to get my hands on the recovery disks for a T60p made in the same year as my own Z60m. The T60p disks worked perfectly on my Z60m even though it was for a different system (dual core vs my single core, conventional screen vs my widescreen, etc...)
