Configuring Bit Locker in a system with a service partition

How To, Windows Features

Question

Can anyone confirm that in order to use BitLocker I have to delete the Service Partition?

The BitLocker Drive Preparation Tool is giving me "The BitLocker Drive Preparation Tool could not find a target system drive. You may need to manually prepare your drive for BitLocker".

This is an X61 with the standard Lenovo Vista Business install upgraded to Ultimate, and it still has the Service Partition.

I've tried bootrec /fixmbr, disabled hibernation and paging and deleted hiberfil.sys and pagefile.sys. Removed the Rescue & Recover software.

Still getting the same error. What can be done to avoid this?

Answer

Removing the  Service Partition ill  enable the BitLocker to run smoothly.
