This does not apply to the M900 SFF and Tower, they require a PCIe SSD adapter.

I believe the M.2 Storage connector uses four PCIe lanes in order to provide x4 speed.  I believe the M.2 WWAN connector only uses two lanes at most.  Not really sure.
