Lenovo A5 battery issues

2018-11-18, 12:23 PM

I bought lenovo a5 smartphone recently, unboxed and powered on no power. Thought no battery then charged the phone with adapter then the lenovo logo appeared and took longtime to charge full.. Then i started using it.. Sometimes it works sometimes it charges only 50% and not go above that... Battery also doesn't drain beyond 50% and suddenly gets rebooted or power down. If i connect charger it will show low battery warning and suddenly the charge percentage raise to 50 and won't show greater% then that but will be charging.. If i go to the settings in battery it shows " battery usage information is not available" please help

Hi Elumalai2018

This is odd. Let me help you to determine what causes of your battery concern. Have you tried other chargers already?

Check if your issue is happening in Safe Mode. Long-press volume-down button when phone's start-up screen shows. After the phone starts up, “Safe mode” displays on the bottom left meaning safe mode is entered. After this, observe the phone within the day. Once done observing the phone, restart to auto exit safe mode.

Please update your profile with current phone, carrier and IMEI-- this will help me investigate. Need help updating your profile? See here. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Forum-Feedback/Complete-your-forums-profile/td-p/3339943

Sorry if it did not work for you. Try this--  long press on Shutdown or Reboot, you will be prompted asking if you want to reboot to safe mode. Then select it.

Re:Lenovo A5 charging issues

Hey, I'm  facing charging issue with my Lenovo A5.

When my smartphone ran out of battery, I just pluged in as usual but my phone screen started flashing with a lightning bolt symbol continuously. It happens after every couple of seconds as long as I keep it  pluged in (like that in attachment). And when I plug it out after a few min and try to reboot it, it would not turns on.

It is happening third time, but earlier I just changed the USB cable and it worked fine but just for a few time. Do I need to get a new USB cable every month :-( !!

Hi Oin0430,

Thanks for sharing your experience. Are you using the supplied charger for the phone? I would first recommend using the original charger.

Re:Lenovo A5 charging issues

Actually a few days later I figured out that the sign appears when the battery has a charge below 0% and the device cannot be booted till the charge reaches 1%.

But, the real problem is when this thing happens it charges very slowly, I mean very-very slow even if I'am using the original Lenov adapter [just the USB cable is different cause original one is no more, both USB cables are of same length] , it's charging speed is like "50%/8hrs". And it can literally take a day or a whole week to recover to it's actual chargin speed.

Hi Oin0430,

It's possible a hardware failure. Can you please try doing factory data reset without restore? Backup important files, but don't restore them or any of your third-party apps.

Settings > Factory Data Reset

Observe the phone and see if that helps.
