NVRAM WARNING: Err = 0x10

2014-08-10, 5:49 AM

Hello, people of Lenovo. I hope someone will answer my question. I always see this "NVRAM WARNING: Err = 0x10" in my list of scanned and available wlans. It musn't be just an SSID created by someone near my house because whenever I drive to far away places- while "forgetting" that network at the same time- I'd still see it constantly appear. Is this some sort of a virus?

Furthermore, many times I've had trouble scanning or detecting available wifi in public places like coffee shops. My wife can easily connect to them with her iPad; but I can't. I'd sometimes borrow her iPad to see what SSID she's connected into, then I'd manually input the same SSID into my phone, and enter its corresponding password, just so I can connect. Is it possible that the "NVRAM WARNING: Err = 0x10" is causing this wifi scanning failure?

Dear Customer:

The "NVRAM WARING: Err = 0x10" always means your phone's MAC address is illegal.

Can you provide your WiFi MAC address?

My phone is issued by my postpaid network carrier. I don't understand how its mac address can be illegal as you said.

In Settings->WLAN-> press menu key, Advanced, then you can find the MAC address

What I said illegal MAC address means the MAC address is not the factory MAC address, maybe the phone was flashed by someone and the factory MAC address was erased.

Dear Cutomer:

Mac address start with 00:08:22 is not belongs to Lenovo. You can refer to: http://standards.ieee.org/develop/regauth/oui/oui.txt

I think your phone should be flashed by someone before, is it an offical version?

Really? Smart Communications, Inc. provided my with this phone when I availed of their postpaid plan. Their company website is www.smart.com.ph. It's a mobile network company here in the Philippines. In any case, how can I fix this problem?
