Uh........because they promised one?  At least they did on their facebook page.  That is pretty much as good as publicly announcing it.  Had I known that they were intending not to, I would have steered clear of Motorola.

My bad for beliving them.  Won't be fooled twice.

Same here, I was steering clear of it till they did their announcement... Do I ever feel shafted... At least I've been able to influence others in their decisions... to not go with a closed device since it truely isn't android on these but Motoblur OS and android is really not available on them.

Motorola should find this chilling when it comes to thinking about future sales:

https://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=question&id=10150175871280731&qa_ref=ssp

Phandroid counted the votes for Unlocked Bootloader, and they add up to over 10,000 votes.

From the article on phandroid: "Over a dozen of these responses were left with subsequent votes on them totaling up to over 10,000."

That should send a clear and concise message when you consider that the poll is showing 14,372 total votes (go to motorola's fb page, and click on the poll, the popup window shows the total votes at the bottom.

Not to mention the 8,500 signatures now on the Groubal, which doesn't include double ups like the Facebook survey.

Please Motorola, make your announcement and put us out of our misery.

The Petition:

The Unlock Moto Facebook Page:

I do fear it may be too late for the Atrix and this current crop of promised devices from Moto.  Core Devs have jumped ship, returned their devices, and moved on to other ones from Samsung and HTC....

I hope not   It took a long while for the SE Xperia to be hacked, but then Sony changed their hearts and decided to just unlock it, after waiving your warranty goodbye.

I hope moto has good health insurance, next person I see working for them is getting beamed in the head with my Atrix 4g...  Then I will have a excuse for a new phone, and have gotten my money's worth.

Unfortunately, as I stated earlier, many devs already returned their atrix's.  Unlocking the bootloader given the outcry from Atrix owners, and other Motorola blur device owners (I now refuse to call them android now), any longer then a couple of weeks more is simply going to be too little too late for IMHO the 2011 line of devices as any search on Motorola "android devices.

This is getting really old, Look, Motorola is going to come out with whatever they were talking about on FB WHEN EVER THEY WANT TO... OR NOT.

And NO amount of complaining or views on this thread are going to change that.

Apple sold 16 million iPhones in the last quarter of 2010... you're trying to intimidate Motorla with 52k VIEWS... not even the wildest of imaginations could make that actually relate to 52k lost purchases... which AGAIN is NOTHING in the scheme of things.

Play nice, BEG, Plead... but stop getting indignant like they're going to care, or you're going to intimidate them into complience...

If anything you're just going to show them that the people who want the unlocked bootloader are annoying pestery customers that they probably don't want to begin with.
