Encrypted SD card showing unsupported after factory reset phone

2021-05-30, 0:33 AM

I don't know where to put this or this even qualify as a problem.

1) Bought a phone (android 8) few years back, added SD card and formatted the card as internal, after that phone internal memory disappeared.

2) Recently phone started to go crazy, menu were getting selected automatically. (Enable developer option to check if screen is getting pressed, screen guard problem)

3) After few days, phone went into restart loop

4) Tried to reset, but it wouldn't go to home screen (restart loop stuck on logo page)

5) Removed SD card

6)After trying couple of times and all button combination (Vol up, down , and power) finally was able to reset it.

7) Now SD card is showing unsupported at storage section on settings

Problem:

SD card was encrypted formatted as internal, Phone gave error: "META MODE", restart loop stuck on logo page . I reset phone to factory settings, when I inserted the SD card back its saying unsupported.

How to recover data from SD card?

Hi Santosh009

Can you please confirm what is the phone model? It looks like the sd card is corrupted. Have you tried formatting the sd card? Thanks.

Best regards,
Rich

Its Lenovo K8 model (I don't know how that will help)

Old phone was android 8, its has option to format SD card as internal, and its encrypted some how. After doing factory reset (I removed the SD card while resetting), Phone doesn't recognize the SD card.

SD card is not corrupted, its encrypted. Its really bad advice to format it, as all data will be erased. I think its lost anyway as I can't find any way to retrieve the data.

Ok, formatted it, all data lost. Thanks

I think there is no way to undo that, key is the phone itself. Can't decrypt or retrieve data after resetting.

Who ever designed it that way must be crazy. If phone hangs or stop working, everyone suggesting to do reset. Then SD card data is lost (as decrypt not possible when phone is not working, after reset it doesn't recognize it)
