Re: A2109 - Clockworkmod Recovery and Root

well if you saw it earlier then you should have been able to move ahead, correct? Why are we going back over the fastboot stuff if you have been able to do it at least once now? Your tablet is not broken.

Dear anika200,

I guess I'm trying to make something TOO hard when it shouldn't be..must be the cold dreary weather. Ha Ha

Tomorrow is another day..get a good nights sleep, and regroup in the morning..I guess when the bootloader got unlocked and did a reset that's when the 'fastboot' option changed in the windows device manager area.

Thanks,

David

No, I do not think that anything "bootloader got unlocked" had anything to do with the fastboot in the windows device area.
The cold weather must have made you crazy or maybe it is the ocean air down there. :smileylol:

Anyway, get some sleep and tackle it again. You will get it.

Dear anika200,

You are right, could be the ocean air here..I know what my 'REAL' issue still is..I'm still 'learning' Linux. I've always been a ms windows kind of guy :manwink: . Yesterday in our local sunday paper, office depot has our beloved A2109 on sale for $229.00 , that's $20.00 cheaper than I paid @ best buy. I looked on my receipt and on the back it states that I have a 30 day 'price match' guarantee, as I don't live very far from best buy, I plan on taking the office depot ad along with my receipt, and see if best buy will honor their price guarantee, if not I MIGHT even consider returning my A2109. Maybe I should have just waited for a good deal on a ms windows 8 tablet. As I've said before..my viewsonic gtablet was MUCH easier to root / mod than my A2109..it just didn't have the better spec's. like the A2109 does, specifically the tegra 3 processor. As it's still early in the morning here in Jacksonville,fl , I'm just considering ALL of my option's.

David :manwink:

Update: I just got back from best buy, it looks like I'll be keeping my A2109 after all, they did adhere to their price match guarantee without ANY issue at all. Of course I was prepared..I had the valid office depot ad with me, so really there wasn't any reason for them not to. They put the difference in price right back on my credit card without ANY hassle whatsoever. Now I really feel like I got an even better deal than before. All I have to do now is get my A2109 'rooted' & get the proper CWM software installed on it. :smileyhappy:

Have you read these threads?  It's a piece of cake if you follow the directions:

Josh,

I'm just making it harder than it should be..thanks. I followed these instruction's:

If you need to root:

  1. Select 'install zip from sdcard'
  2. Then select 'choose zip from sdcard' or 'choose zip from external sdcard' depending on where you placed the Superuser zip file.
  3. Now navigate to your Superuser-3.1.3-signed-arm.zip and select it
  4. Choose 'Yes Install Superuser-3.1.3-signed-arm.zip'
  5. at least on my tablet, when I press the power button along with the volume + button, the only 'storage' choice I see listed in there is install update from external sdcard, NOT both..WHY ?

No problem, David.  The process has been well-documented by mcl630 and anika200 on androidtablets.net.

Just a minute ago I just performed a factory reset/data wipe..I figured what the heck! Surely my tablet isn't defective is it ? Go ahead...call me stupid, it's been done before ! :manfrustrated: I renamed the superuser.zip file in the SD card to update, still nothing. Could some more of the problem be that I'm running windows 8 pro. ?

Yes.  There's a different process for installing the drivers for Win8.  I don't know where they are -- you'll have to search.
