Root A7600 A10-70

2014-08-18, 14:02 PM

Hi.

Is there anyone out there, that have had luck rooting the Lenovo A7600 Tablet? (IdeaPad A10-70)

I have tried with KingoApp and FramaRoot, but no luck.

It seems that there are someone over on the russian Lenovo forums, that have root access, but the instructions are pretty hard to follow, since they are in russian...

Russian Root instructions

Russian Recovery Instructions

Thanks.!

Kingo worked for me tonight, using the Android 4.4 image.

I also got Clockwork Mod Recovery running on it with the help of a thread in Russian on one forum, a thread in French on another forum, and some notes about the MT65xx Preloader USB driver.

Given how much of a hassle it was for me ... I can imagine other English speakers are having the same issue. I wrote down my steps on a blog post. Feel free to give this a try:

Same issue I guess. I have a Lenovo A7600-F.  I understand it may be a new device but I tried Kingo to root and it just doesnt seem to want to connect to the device.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

While I had su' working via adb shell after using the Clockworkmod rooting option on CWM reboot, I was still working on getting SuperSU working (I had it before I did the 'root' option in Clockwork Mod).

So just FYI that you may want to do a manual reboot (with the power/lock button) rather than using CWM to reboot.

Ran Kingo a few more times, including after a system reset, and still haven't got root working properly.

I think had I skipped the step in CWM where CWM does it's own root mechanism things would have been fine.

Tired, so done for tonight, but will investigate rooting again tomorrow and post back if I get it fixed. But getting CWM on and skipping CWM's root should work.

Okie doke. I was pretty tired last night but I got root back properly.

Hadn't noticed that the french post had a link to an update.zip for obtaining root.

Download the update.zip file, put it on an SD card, reboot to recovery and install the .zip file.

When that is done, do a reboot. If you use CWM to do the reboot, when it asks about disabling flashing and enabling root, just say "no" to either. The tablet will boot rooted with SuperSU installed.

So, CWM is working, root is working. Tablet is proper. Enjoy :)

NEVER use KingoRoot to to root any Android (I am a Lenovo/MTK ROM Modder).

The Reason 1) "superuser" app is named Kigoroot.apk - it should be "Superuser.apk"

2)"su" binaries are named "ksu" that is why SuperSU cannot updatesu binaries.

                        3) superuser daemon all refers to "kingoroot"/"kingroot" rather than "superuser" in its generated script.

                        4) You cant install "busybox" (root rights isnt just getting Superuser on the device it also needs other                                      supporting files "critical" is the busybox.

Americans like to use Kingoroot ( it is well publicised by word of mouth) whereas we in Asia uses iRoot/Vroot and it uses the normal naming standard "superuser" is "Superuser.apk" , "su" binaries are "su" binaries. But once installed with Kingoroot even an unroot by Kingoroot itself would not eliminate the "orphan" files left behind , this WILL cause problems if you install SuperSU (you will have to do some gynastics to clean this up - catch 22) Use Vroot/iRoot http://www.mgyun.com/en/getvroot 99% success rate on MTK Lenovo ROMS and immediately after install SuperSU.

I would advise users not experiment with installing "Xposed" until you have installed customs recovery (PhilzRecovery is available for Tab2 A7-10, Google it). PhilzRecovery : http://www.xposedgeek.net/philz-recovery-for-lenovo-tab-2-a7-10-all-bugs-fixed/
