Re:Android Oreo update for Lenovo yoga tab 3 pro

This is the update screen I got:

I don't know why someone would think this is an illegitimate update if it comes from the Lenovo system update tool. <rant> But I echo that it sadly is showing up as 6.0.1 for the Yoga Tab 3's Android version, even after this update. It is baffling to me that we're part of this statistic: As of March 2020, 10% of Android devices use this unsupported (for security updates) Android 6.0 (API 23).[3] Didn't we buy a high end tablet just 3 months ago? </rant>

Back to reality, and knowing how these things work, software updates for legacy projects are only required for security updates. So this is most likely a security update with no feature or functionality upgrades. If anyone has info, I'd like very much to be proved wrong on this.

Sorry for being easily scared about this automated update, I’m glad to hear it is Lenovo’s update tool. In the thread aboutYoga Tablet 2 1050f system update 2020, someone’s earlier earphone-issues actually improved after the update.

The stability issue I've got, is with some apps stopping to work either permanently or occasionally. Then on the first boot after the update I saw the usual message for: Application has stopped working. So my issue (and I've seen others posting the same issues) is not fixed.

Strangely today (April 15, 2020 repeat 2020) I received a system update, not OS update. Wondered what it is. Installed, but did not see any differences.

Mine updated yesterday, and I'm not able to download from Netflix to save bandwidth.  I can only stream online.  I have a couple other apps that will crash or close a second after I open them.  This update broke some of my apps.

I'm curious if you know how to enter BIOS on the YT3, I tried rebooting with a keyboard attached and do the usual F2/F10 keys on the boot screen but I was not lucky.

What do you all think of this Yoga Tab 10 with Android Pie? Is it the indication that Lenovo will update the YT3 OS... or does it mean there's a new shiny object and we will be stuck with Android Marshmallow on the YT3?

I also got the update on my YT-X703F  - got excited as the file was 1.6Gb - thought this cant just be a security update - but cant see any difference - still showing version 7.1.1
