Connected to WIFI, but No internet

2018-07-07, 18:33 PM

Yoga tab 3 prompts for password to secured (showing lock symbol) WiFi network and connects with internet access just fine.  But when I try to connect to a password protected, unsecured (no lock symbol) "guest" network, it will not prompt for the password and immediately shows it is connected.  However there will be no internet access.

Attempting to Open a browser page only results in a "no connection" error.   I have tried to 'forget' the network - doesn't work.  Tried to change the password of the guest network in the router - the Yoga still work not prompt for the new password.  And there is no option anywhere in the WLAN settings to input/change a password.  I have rebooted the router and tablet - no change.  The "guest" network works fine in all of my other devices.  I have tried network settings reset and a system update on the tablet - no change.  Shows connected, but no internet.

When you get it to connect to your network can you open your router webpage, something like 192.168.1.1

What make and model is your router.

Is it 2.4g or 5g wireless your are connecting to.

What security on the wireless are you using (normally as I know you tried it without)

Thx dave

On the secured network, yes, I can open my router settings webpage.

Riuter is a Linksys e2500.

I have both 2.4G & 5G enabled on the router, but I have no idea what the tablet is connecting to. It only shows one network name with no other info.

Security on the wireless is WPA2 Personal.

i alway name the ssid for 2.4 and 5g differently so i know what i am connecting to.

if you can connect to the router from the tablet it tells us there is a connection there and might be down to a setting in the router its self.

some people have had the same issue worth a try frist i would download another browser and try that

https://www.cnet.com/forums/discussions/can-connect-to-linksys-router-but-internet-won-t-work-214026/

or i googled the issue but you will have to read and go through them https://www.google.co.uk/search?rlz=1C1GCEA_enGB766GB766&ei=hSpBW-7gKcvKgAbgt7SgDw&q=linksys+e2500+wireless+device+can+connect+to+router+but+can%27t+connect+to+internet&oq=linksys+e2500+wireless+device+can+connect+to+router+but+can%27t+connect+to+internet&gs_l=psy-ab.3...337220.350088.0.350343.44.43.1.0.0.0.101.3455.41j2.43.0....0...1c.1.64.psy-ab..0.3.250...35i39k1.0.xb-Z7m3KN4I

I will try renaming the ssid's.  Though I'm not sure it would matter.  Will also look through some of the googled thoughts.  I use the same browser on other devices and those work so don't think it's a browser issue.  Will continue to investigate possibilities and post back.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I have the same problem. It's automatically connecting to the public network with an old password that is no longer valid (because they change the passwords often).  There is no way to change the password.

How can you change a wifi password?
