Re: KitKat roll-out for Yoga Tablets starting June

2014-07-04, 15:13 PM

As a "layman" compared to many of you on here, can you please explain as to why "Russia" seems to crop up so often for "fixes" on here and not from Lenovo ??

I also notice some of you mention that these "Russian" fixes don't seem to rectify the KitKat problems that seem to exist. Are they official modifications ?

I'm sure I don't use my Yoga 10 so "hard" as many of you, I have the original 4.4 update that installed but my only noticeable change is a. that sometimes its difficult to get a page when tapping the screen.......and b. been woken up in the morning with pleasant alarm, but all my Clock Alarm buttons seem to be OFF !! I'm sure I got the same alarm, twice, when the Tablet was fully charged and pluged in.

Any comments about my alarm coming on pse ??

They just have a person who have access to the official Lenovo images, nothing else. No modifications, no fixes etc.

In the new power manager comming with KitKat there is a "full charge audio alert". Perhaps is this alarm you have ?

Strange you should say that...cause that was the page showing when the alarm sounds....but the box that reqd an alarm to sound was not ticked...so ??
I must say I don't understand the Power Management thing.....i'm on Power Saving apparently, when I select the alternative Normal, a pop up appears saying Normal Mode- There is no significant influence on tablet usuage, but the power saving effect is ordinary (!!!?). An offer of Dont Prompt......then two choices...OK or Cancel Anyone explain in simple English, what is meant by the above ?? As I dont undrstand the above I have left it !!

What a goofy-ass world this has become.  Lenovo has obviously pushed out a badly flawed upgrade (Kit-Kat) that screwed up users' tablets.  So bad, in fact, they removed the OTA upgrade.  Lenovo should be coming onto this board and be apologizing profusely at least once or twice a day to beg for patience to those of us who spent good money on their product.  Instead, Lenovo remains mostly absent from this forum.  Every few days or so they'll throw us peasants a bone by making a brief comment telling us they know there are KK problems, to which we respond by thanking them.  Why on earth are we thanking them for coming onto the forum every blue moon giving us practically zilch helpful information about how they're going to fix their major OTA upgrade screw-up?  They should be thanking us for not marching and protesting enmasse against their stores and outlets demanding our money back.

From what I can tell Lenovo gives access to manually install updates on their Russian forum that we don't get notified of here the updates are official Lenovo updates just not Ota.

I can put together a downgrade guide to 4.2.2 and links if there is enough interest. It's pretty straightforward but a little fiddly and will require you to completely reset your tablet in the process. Let me know.

A detailed downgrade guide to 4.2.2 would be very helpful. Thanks kennylxix for offering.

My understanding is that the forum you are referring to is not an official Lenovo forum.

A downgrade will be VERY helpful.  My use as a medieplayer,  have been totally  useless for more than 3 weeks now,  but now after 3 weeks waiting,  suddenly there is a offer  about downgrade -  something  we have ask about since day one,  then seems a KitKat upgrade to be very long away -  is the holidays calling again :-(

To be clear I am not a Lenovo employee so the downgrade is in no way official. I will work on instructions today.
