Firstly, everybody please go to the relevant new threads created by Amy and click the 'I have this problem too' button. http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Idea-Android-based-Tablets/KitKat-roll-out-for-Yoga-Tablets-starting-June/td-p/1529296/highlight/true/page/75  It will be the process that will help get these issues escalated and hopefully fixed.  I hope this thread remains open until a fully working version of Kit kat has been supplied. It would not be fair to expect us to follow everythread.

I'm running the 140703 update and will not be updating further until confirmed bug free updates are available for fear of more issues arising.

I waited a couple of weeks before updating to the v024 update, plan on waiting a few days when the next update is out again.

Maybe they should create a wide beta program so interested users could grab release candidates and try them and help work out issues. Not only does it test under circumstances that the engineers could never dream of, but it gives the user a sense of satisfaction because they are part of the process.

I'm in for better beta testing.

By the way Amazon audio and wuaki TV seem to work OK now. Was the Lenovo so advanced that these updated apps with the exception of that **bleep** street view (ciao argie) now work (sarcasm)? Are we entering the twilight zone of the Yoga which is rising above the ether to a new meditative, stretchy astral plane.

Owning a Yoga is like purgatory, you can see how good it could really be, yet you are punished with a seemingly never ending sense of frustration.

Roll on update 25/26/27/28/29/30/31 etc.?

Giaspa, compadre

Bad news (for me)

I followed your directions and performed a hard reset (BTW it was not easy at all for me to make the menu appear, I have no idea until now when I need to push the volume plus the switch together, neither for how long. I just tried few times until I got it).

Chose emmc, reset the machine (first ejected the SD card).

Everything was erased and I needed really to install everything.

The tablet itself works much better BUT

the charging time did not improve.

I plugged the tablet at 1,20 with a level of 40%.

I unplugged it at 8, 30, which makes 7 hours charge.

It bareley charged until 77%.

A friend gave me an idea. Maybe it will help. He says that from time to time you should discharge the battery COMPLETELY. And then after few hours being off recharge it until the end. Normally I charge the battery every night even if there is 90%

What do you think

Argie

Re: KitKat roll-out for Yoga Tablets starting June

Amigo mio,

Ever since I started using these gadgets with rechargeable batteries, I have always allowed the battery to run down. In fact I have 4 year old archos 605/604s (a type of video player, tablet) that have original batteries and still run very well in terms of longevity and function. I have done this on my mobiles as well.

Some people say that on the new lithium batteries it does not matter but I disagree and would certainly not recharge above 20%. To help you might want to use one of the battery conditioner apps that will test and effectively "condition" the battery.

Also try a different USB cable, might help.

Word of warning, don't let it go much below 20% as the power measurement on the yoga is erratic. I have seen drops of from 32% to 18% from switch off and on. Also, all my battery issues started when I was using YouTube and the yoga warned me to plug in, I ignored and it switched itself off.

I'm not saying for sure that running it down will solve the problem but if you want the battery to last, I would recommend.

In terms of my tablet, since reset and with alternative cable, I am getting good charges every time and the charge lasts as it should.

Hope this helps.
