The update is full of bugs depending on what you use it for. If you only use it for things that don't use certain function s then it's fine. For me, and I'm have owned tablets from LG and Acer and they have been nearly flawless at a lower price point. So unless Lenovo fixes these bugs it's the last Lenovo I buy.

Re: Lenovo Yoga tab 3 10 plus Nougat update

I hope they will update the android version, because I bought this tablet for the hardware and I didn't see that is using android 6.0 (is strange to see a new tablet using a very old version), and that was a big surprise for me (bad surprise of course).

My Z3 phone have three years and 6 months, and have android 6.0 (official, I've unlocked the phone and I'm with Oreo), so is not good for the image of a company that a tablet with less than 2 years will have the same version forever. Even it will have Oreo instead nougat that is more than a year old.

Is my first Lenovo tablet, but seeing how update process works (more than a year late and full of bugs), will be the last...

What? I got this tablet 3 months ago (And I could update to 7.1.1), till something broke with the screen (It was showing a pulsing black line on the right side of the screen) and I got a replacement with the default Android 6.0 and now I cannot update. **bleep**? I mean, with 7.1.1 they finally fixed the horrible audio/video desynchronization issues that 6.0 has on this tablet (And that was the only reason I actually bought the tablet, because I liked the hardware, but I saw the terrible desync issues with 6.0). And why is Lenovo Support saying that the tablet never got Android 7.1.1? Are there only idiots working at Lenovo or what? Now that I've got a replacement tablet I cannot just give it back. This is just frustrating, screw Lenovo, never again.

Anybody knows if the 7.1.1 OTA update ZIP exists and where to find it? In the bootloader from the tablet there is an option to install an official OTA update ZIP from SD Card. Which should allow to install a non modified update without unlocking anything nor loosing any warranty.

I just bought this tablet for myself and did not get nougat update. Build nr YT-X703L, Mfg date Sept. 2017.

Mine uses Android 6.0.1 and no updates are avalable.

We have another yoga tab 3 plus in the family and I upgraded it to nougat through official update.

Do not have that tablet right now to post a picture, because a child who uses it does not live with me, but it has Android 7. I think we got the update Dec. 2017 in Estonia. Not sure about the date, but definitely got it not so long ago.

It works fine for him, because he basically only watches youtube and plays games on it.

Wow, OK, this looks promising. I have to say, kudos for finding that folder, I've spent quite some time searching and I just found garbage.

Looking at the picture I've posted with the new and old tablet, in the OTA directory the last big file there is called actually the same latest firmware from 6.0 to the latest firmware from 7.1.1. So it pretty much seems like the update to Android 7.1.1 for this tablet. I'll inspect the file a bit more and eventually try to install it with the legit bootloader.

EDIT 1: So I had a look at the update ZIP file and in the manifest there is a list of checksums from all the files from the update, which are signed with a Lenovo certificate. Seems legit so far.

EDIT 2:

IT WORKS! I just upgraded my Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Plus to Android 7.1.1 with the ZIP and it works!!

You just have to double check very carefully if the FROM version from the ZIP matches EXACTLY the one you can see in the "Build Number" in  "About Tablet" from the settings (I don't know what checks are performed during the upgrade other than file checksum checks, so it's better to be on the safe side). Of course any risk is on your side.

The upgrade process is pretty straight forward. You put the ZIP into the SDCARD (Formatted previously as FAT32). Then you power off the tablet, and press the power button and the volume down button at the same time, which opens the bootloader menu, from there you go to "Update from SDCARD" and you go to the ZIP file you just put on the SDCARD. Press OK and it starts installing the update.

No unlocking of anything, no warranty void. Restart and you're on the Lenovos "secret" original Android 7.1.1 version.

I see that the link to the OTA ZIP has been deleted by the moderator. Is it not allowed to share the update file? I tested the file and it works. What is considered to be verified? Here is the update link in case it is allowed to share: https://mega.nz/#!wMEm1IKY!26reipwbTMBaW8uvfdZf3vzmA59qd5d6p9cN59GhTJ8 (It is my own copy of the file, and the link links to the file itself, so it should not be possible to change the file without changing the whole URL).

Thanks,

In don't know why the link was removed. Maybe Lenovo don't want to allow us to have a better version... If the file is unverifiable, then share the verified one...

Anyway, I'm glad to help you.
