Yoga 8 and 10 Tablets - KitKat 4.4.2 - Charging Time

2014-10-11, 23:39 PM

After upgrading to KitKat 4.4.2, some customers report their Yoga 8 or 10 tablets (B6000-F/H or B8000-F/H) may take longer to charge while OFF, than it does while ON. Some users report double the time to charge when device is on.

10/15 EDIT: Adding in the LED light not turning off when tablet is fully charged as it may be related. Also adding in hot battery physically warm to touch.

These reports originated from this thread: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Idea-Android-based-Tablets/KitKat-roll-out-for-Yoga-Tablets-starting-June/td-p/1529296

I was personally unable to reproduce these reports so I am looking for some information. Could I get some feedback from 3+ people? I am looking for the following:

Yoga 8 or 10 tablet

30 minutes on charged X%

30 minutes off charged Y%

Thanks,

Re: Yoga 8 and 10 Tablets - KitKat 4.4.2 - Charging Time

KitKat OTA V28 was released on January 16th. It should resolve this issue.

If you are not currently running this update, you can download it by going to Setting - About tablet - System upgrade. Your device will then check to see what updates are available. These updates for the Yoga Tablet 8 and 10 (B6000 and B8000) begin with "A442_001_028"

Please note that if you have several updates to install, the device may only allow you to install two per day and the installation process may take several days to complete.

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on previous updates.

Since there are also reports of charging time and LED issues, I am going to add them to this thread.

Please post in here if your LED is not switching off after it has charged fully while the machine is off.

Thanks,

When tablet off and on completion of charging cycle the led on my yoga does not switch off.

The charging of my yoga can vary in time.

I also have noticed that with the tablet off and plugged in to the supplied mains charger, on completion of charging cycle the led in the power button on my yoga does not switch off.  Under Jelly Bean the led did turn off, and this was a very useful feature.

Charge time seems about the same as before but have to press power button at regular intervals to display the large animated battery to see if charging is complete.  This is a bit annoying.

Tablet is B8000-F on Android 4.4.2 with update 024

First battery test trial: 30 mins.

Tablet off 52% - 61%.       Tablet on (power saving mode on with smart endurance on) 61% - 67%.

I will do another at around low 20s for consistency.

My normal full charge from 15% with tablet off 4.5 - 5.5/6 hours.

Update: added in a note above that I am grouping charge times, the LED light not turning off when fully charged, and hot battery after use together. I was able to reproduce these issues and have escalated a case.

Thanks,
