2010-06-19, 22:34 PM
I have a Backflip and have had it since about Sept 09.  In the last few days I have had a problem of my phone turning itself off and i do not know why?  Also I have noticed the phone getting hot durning recharge periods. Anone have any ideas as to why these problems are happening.

I have read in the manual for the Backflip that Motorola phones are designed to shutdown when the temperature reachs a certain point, to prevent the phone from frying itself. I know some of the market apps will cause my phone to heat up more than applications will. So maybe one of the apps is causing you phone to run hot and shut down? Not to sure.

I guess it would help if i read the manual. Thank you for your quick response. Im gonna take the phone down to batteries plus and check the battery just in case if it is no good anymore. The battery feels to be bubbled a little but not to bad.

Re: Backflip Mysterious Shutdown

I'm having this problem.
Backflip would hang in whitescreen until I removed the battery.

This ONLY happens when browsing/download using 3G data plan using the simcard.
This would erratically happen anywhere between 5-20 minutes.

This also happens during tethering to PC although not frequent.
Also would happen when fully charged / minimum battery power or connected to USB power.

Regardless of battery loose nor tight, I've even tried without the back cover.

Would also happen regardless of temperature/time or weather. Even cooled in air-conditioning..
However, browsing/download was not affected in WIFI mode, even with all the bad conditions above, including call-in/out. Hours of surfing/heavy downloads would not even flinch the backflip.
Please help. Thanks
