@benmunger

Those details will likely be released at or slightly before the upgrade is available. Certainly our intent with any upgrade/update is for your experience to be seamless. I am sure the situation will be evaluated appropriately to ensure that your experience post-upgrade is optimal. This could require that some information will be automatically restored while other information must be reinstalled/reconfigured.

I understand that it may not be the same for the Backflip BUT....  How have other models handled upgrades?  Did they have to reinstall apps?

Motorola Cliq will be the first MOTOBLUR phone to get an upgrade. Once that has been released it will probably be a good indicator on the process for Backflip.

The Flip Out has just been announced with Motoblur running Android 2.1 . It looks very nice and from the demo video, it seems that some extra functionality has been included into the Motoblur, such as widget resizing, pinch-to-zoom etc. Looks cool and it is a good sign that the 2.1 Motoblur is close .

I know at&t and motorola would never allow it, but there seriously should be a way to disable or uninstall motoblur. It is a good system if your heavily into social networking, but if your like me and more into apps, it just slows down the already weaker phones and is an annoyance.

If you're not into social networking then why not just remove the accounts (fb, twitter, myspace) from your phone and just use apps from the market? The phone will work with or without these accounts. The phone will work fine without the happennings widget and happennings app. The rest of motoblur (google services sync, backup phone settings, remote find and wipe) are features that you don't want to lose in my opinion.

Why would you want to disable the main feature of this phone? Isn't that why you purchased it? If you don't want the widgets slowing down your phone then don't have the widgets running.

I bought the phone because it has android, but its defiantly not a full android device like the nexus one or droid. Its a good phone, but at&t and motorola make us keep all this stuff that most people are never going to use like all sport gps, a&t radio, and at&t navigator.

I consider the main feature the Android OS and that is the main reason I purchased the phone. After owing the phone I can say that the sync with Google (contacts & calendar) works very well and that I like the phone itself.
