Bravo 2.2?

2011-04-04, 18:32 PM

Matt,

Could you let us know about the latest information on Bravo getting the 2.2 update.  Heard rumors from other forums (XDA and Androidcentral) that the 2.2 update was on hold.  If so is it temp or perm?

Have you seen ?

The pre-release software test process was only started five days ago. I'm not even sure if the selected users have reecived the update yet. If they have, they certainly haven't had it for long enough for Motorola to make a decision to delay it.

I doubt you will hear anything until testing is done.

When a decision is made it will be announced.

I think 2.2 adds the install to SD card option for apps and some better memory management. Moto may tweak the email client some.

Truthfully, I don't remember what the big differences are between 2.1 and 2.2 - but everyone demands it.

On a hunch, I checked my software update button on my Bravo this morning and, there it was, the 2.2 update. I'm downloading now as I type this. I did not sign up for the early release, so this was a standard update that is available.

Check your phone, it may be ready for you too.

Re: Bravo 2.2?

I checked my UPDATE ~ 7am this morning and discovered 2 UPDATES waiting for me.

One the 2.2 and the other was a MOTO update.

Downloads went smooth and just a few "adjustments" after all was installed - works great.

I think a part of the MOTO upgrade was the ability to use the Bravo as a HotSpot via a USB to a laptop - that would be very cool and certainly handy at times.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

QUESTION:

Comments above indicate 2.2 now installs APPS on the SD card.

As still being relatively new to my first smartphone, any clarification on "hard memory" and SD memory and how it relates to having enough ememory for the phone to work and apps to function without slowdown.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One app I have is "Auto Memory" that seems to indicate I'm always in the 100-125 MB range of free space. That appears to be getting close to losing efficiency. I have no idea if this SD card memory or the phone's "hard memory"

Any suggestions are most welcomed...as always from this great community!

Thanks, guys!

@jrom23

It's a preventative measure to ensure that users on limited data plan aren't negatively affected without their consent. You can connect to a wifi hotspot  to start the download and then leave to complete it. This isn't recommended but is certainly up to you.
