Bravo MultiMedia Station does not charge phone

2011-01-17, 13:48 PM

Hey has anyone else purchased the recently released multimedia station for the Bravo from AT&T?? Nice unit; has a decent length cord and removable insert to make room for a case. However I can't seem to find much info about it. The supplied quick guide says "see your phone's manual for the exciting features of this station". But I'm not finding any info in the Bravo guides.  It does not charge the phone when it is docked and I cant find any settings when docked that has to do with charging. Anyone have any experience with this??? Thnaks in advance.  Mike

Michael-

Where did you purchase the dock? Some companies create off brand replicas. Just want to make sure I know what brand and where you bought it.

Re: Bravo MultiMedia Station does not charge phone

Hi Mark, Thanks for posting. The station was added to AT&Ts phone accessory page on their website about 2 weeks ago. It came in a AT&T branded box and is a genuine Motorola product with hologram sticker on the bottom. The literature I have been able to find says it is supposed to charge the phone. The station does recognize the phone when it is docked. I wondered if there was some menu buried in the phone somewhere that I have to configure for the station. Any thoughts??? Thnaks for your input! Mike

Mike-

No it should be plug and play. Could be that your dock is just DOA regrettably.  Let me play around with my dock to see if there are any instances where I can't get it to charge.

Is your phone charged or are you attempting with a dead battery?

Mark, When the dock is being used at night the phone has been on all day. Phone battery at that point is around 50-60 % state of charge. I have tried wiggling around phone in the dock as suggested by some posts in the Droid forum-no change. If I take the phone out of the dock and put it on the stations power wire it begins to charge immediately. If I can be reasonably certain that I am not doing something wrong (like I mentioned-not a whole lot of info about station), I will contact AT&T about a warranty replacement. I assume by the stations weight and recycle symbols on the bottom that there is some type of supporting battery inside-perhaps it is bad and inhibiting charging. Thanks, Mike

Mike-

Hold the phone. I am going to see if someone from the Bravo Dock team would like it for evaluation. If so we can arrange a swap.

Re: Bravo MultiMedia Station does not charge phone

2011-01-20, 13:52 PM

Mark, An update. Since the station was not charging I have not been using it. Last weekend I did a factory reset to resolve an e-mail download issue (which fixed it). On a whim I decided to put the phone in the station last night and it is now charging. I get a battery % charge and little icon with a lightning bolt thru it in the upper right corner of the display. Whatever was not letting the phone charge has now been resolved. On a side note the dock and phone recognize each other by way of a magnetic contact. I have an old phone case that I have been using on occasion with the Bravo (horizontal belt carry with 2 magnetic discs on the leather flap). I have noticed that when I put the phone in the case with the screen off the flap magnets wake it up and it goes into dock mode. Since I have my screen setting at 30min auto turn off the screen stays active in the case. Obvioiusly I'm not using that case anymore. I mention this for your info in case you have anyone complaining about phone using a lot of battery etc. Many thanks for yor help and your work on the Forum!! Mike

I'm looking to buy the charging station cor my Bravo, but before I do, can anyone confirm if it works properly with a Speck case? I want to make sure there aren't any issues before I spend my money.

Thank you.
