Trouble Upgrading FSM fom V1.3.1.2

2018-08-02, 0:41 AM

We are trying to upgrade FSM from a very old version v1.3.1.2.  When I go to the IBM Fix Central download site, I don't see the base level of v1.3.2 to download.  I only see higher/patched versions to download.  Can I upgrade directly to v1.3.2.4/patched version of v1.3.2?  We would like to upgrade all the way up to v.1.3.4.x, but I understand we need to do it is steps: v1.3.1.2 to v1.3.2.x, v1.3.3.x, and v1.3.4.x. In our current environment, the CMM's are at 2.5.1.2, and we have 4 P460 Power Blades at 01AF773_058.  When we tried to upgrade from the FSM GUI, the upgrade to v1.3.2 failed saying we were missing "ibm_fw_imm2_1aoo58r-4.20_anyos_noarch".  It seems like there are quite a few pieces to upgrade FSM properly, and never having done it, we are struggling.  We have reviewed "Best Practices Guide", and it has been some help, but I'm wondering if things are failing because we don't have the base v1.3.2 code image.  It also seems from what I am reading that it is better to try and download the package zip file, and use the command line/putty method to perform the upgrade.  If anyone can share their experience, I would appreciate it!

I'd highly recommend to get a ticket open, the FSM update process can be tricky when departing from older builds.

Also I believe IBM is offering an option to manage Power® nodes from an external HMC. This could be another good thing to ask considering your other post on the struggles with FSM and Java, so that you could manage your systems on a different way. The x86 portion of your chassis and the chassis itself can be managed using Lenovo XClarity Administrator, but the Power® part and the FSM itself are still IBM products, so please check with them.

Hello.

We can not say how to upgrade FSM to newer version. But just inform where 1.3.2.0 package is.

From IBM fixcentral, you can choice "To view previous versions of the fixes, rerun the query to include superseded fixes. " top of FSM download page. Following are example.

Then, you go to link of FSMApplianceUpdate-1-3-4 description and  extract below. Then you can see FSMApplianceUpdate-1-3-2.
