i've heard so many crazy things from support techs. I would have gotten that reps name as soon as they said that, because the next tech would say otherwise

This is interesting because I specifically asked the Tmobile rep I spoke with if the Cliq XT can be tethered, yes was the reply.  I asked again, using more buzz words, "so I can use the Cliq XT as a modem to connect to my computer.  I can use the internet from my laptop by using the Cliq XT as a modem if I don't have wired or wireless service."  "Yes, absolutely" was the reply.  That is the reason I even decided on a smart phone and the $30 extra a month service.  The rep was a CSA over their 611 network, so it's not like it was a 3rd party like Wally World or Target.

So where are my drivers motorola.  You're the ones that have them.  I know you do.

Very interesting. And whether its allowed or not I think it would totally rock to have super speedy interwebs. My current ISP only gives my 1.5mbps dl so when hspa+ rolls out id absolutely tether. Just too bad i live in a spotty 3G area. Oh well, wouldnt wanna lose my contract over tethering.

The drivers to use the Cliq XT as a USB Modem.  PDANet writes their own USB Modem drivers, but since they aren't the manufacturer, their Drivers are not only unsupported but are not quality tested to not break your phone nor do they provide full functionality to the phone being used as a modem.  There are several drivers that Motorola is not releasing for most of these phones, a USB Modem Driver, a USB serial driver, a USB Speakerphone driver, a USB Modem dialer driver, USB General Phone driver, etc.  All these are also usually distributed for the BT NIC as well.  Those are the drivers I am referring to, the ones that need to be distributed by Motorola.  The only drivers they release for this phone is the USB Wireless Headset drivers and a basic driver to handle the SDK.  Even most of the SDK drivers are distributed by Google and not Motorola.

Good luck with your demands. In the men time, Easy tether lite works great for me, and the paid version allows browsing secure sites.

I am a T-Mobile Corporate Sales rep.. TEATHERING IS  INCLUDED in all of our data plans, yes that means unlimited teathering on your "SmartPhone" device, as long as you have the specific data feature for that device. If you pay $24.95 or more for data service on your device then TEATHERING is INCLUDED!
