Agreed. I had this problem and it seems like there is no software fix for
it. It sucks but keep sending it back. This phone is worth it.

I think I started this thread.
I have had absolutely NO problem since I swapped the SIM card given to me by one provider to another.
Thanks A

Defy Rectifications: (Android 2.1)
Heat: Guess this is the major problem for restarts. On continious usage, phone gets hot and restarts very often, especially after starting a call. Even apps hang sometimes. Assuming this, as I have not faced anything going wrong when the phone is cool. Noticed this also when WiFi is on. WiFi drains battery tremendously and thus heats the phone fast, the hot phone hangs (Workaround: On changing to a newer sim, the restarts have reduced. Also on every restart, open the phone for battery to cool. As you know, the design is watertight, so dosen't leave much room for cooling. Unfortunately no permanent solution yet).
Screen: Does not come out of standby sometimes. Have noticed this often when the purple LED glows (notifications). Only physical battery removal & restart works. Assuming this is also because of the above heat situation, but noticed that phone is not that hot. (Soln: Restored the phone to, solved)
Battery Life: Battery level drops sharply after reaching 30% (Soln: After restore drops sharply after 15%)
Home Screen Folders: Phone throwing errors when working with dockable folders. Folder names get reset on phone restart. Icon placement locks on all seven screens get disabled, go haywire. (Workaround: Used program called Go Launcher. Hope the update to 2.3 comes to solve this)

Oh... WiFi with the calling by WiFi activated and your near your source
(anywhere at home) you actually save battery power. Having the phone scan
for WiFi drains battery faster (when no WiFi is available).

I maintain this is a SIM issue.

Hi everyone.
I have a defy on three mobile UK. Works fine with all roms I've tried. Bought my wife a new defy on contract with T-Mobile UK. The first phone I updated to the new 2.2 Tmobile UK rom through official means. It lost signal and rebooted regularly. Went to the T-mobile store. Tried 3 more sims (all different looking). Some caused even more reboots, some did not even pick up a signal. Hence I am not sure it is a sim issue. Sent phone back.
Second defy came. This one I left on the android 2.1 tmobile firmware. Some signal loss but NO reboots. Upgraded to 2.2 official firmware and the reboot problems are back!!!
Interstingly I can use the T-mobile sim with android 2.2 in my old defy with no problems. Weird.
In summary, 2.2 (JOREM_U3_3.4.2_179-6.1) and t-mobile sims do not seem to mix with new motorola defys.
Shoddy really. I feel a bit sorry for T-mobile. Another return on it's way to you guys!
Olly
