Re: Help! Defy keeps rebooting.

I purchased a defy and it kept rebooting. I sent it back and received a brand new one. This also rebooted even more frequently. The rebooting seems to happen when I have the poorest signal. This makes me think this is not a phone fault but maybe a network or sim fault. I am going to buy a new sim asap as mine is quite old and see how that goes.

Re: Help! Defy keeps rebooting.

I would and probably should agree with you, as i first noticed the problem

when i was at work with maybe 1 or 2 bars... however the phone will reboot

whenever i turn wifi off, or leave a wifi area causing the phone to switch

over to a tower... in which i usually have at least 3 bars to full strength.

So, it can't be JUST limited to poor signal.

Re: Help! Defy keeps rebooting.

One of my phones reboots quite often.

No data connection, phone set only to 2G, GSM signal -55 dbm, it reboots whether wifi is on or off. Tried new SIM card, still reboots.

Re: Help! Defy keeps rebooting.

I deleted a program that was installed on the phone and since the phone has not re-booted once. It was the date/time program on there. Once in a while it would freeze and the time wouldn't advance so I just got frustrated and got rid of it, and now I don't  have any problems. The calender connected to the g-mail account still works fine. I don't know if this helps anyone or if it was just a fluke.

Re: Help! Defy keeps rebooting.

I didn't delete it from the phone entirely I just stopped it from running on my home pages. If you press and hold on any of the icons you can move it around, and once you can move it a trash can should pop up at the bottom of the scren, just throw it in.

Re: Help! Defy keeps rebooting.

Since my post (no. 80), I have set the transmission mode to GSM only thanks to the instructions below. No reboot for 48 hours now. Will buy new sim and reset it back to GSM/3G and see what happens.

'on your dial paid enter *#*#4636#*#* then select "phone information" then scroll to bottom of the menu "set preferred network type", choose "GSM only".'

Re: Help! Defy keeps rebooting.

not sure what the difference is, but on my phone (us) it wouldn't let me

select GSM only. As much fun I had trying to figure the problem out, I would

highly suggest everyone that can return your phone for a different one. I

wish I could offer more help then that but I simply can't. I hope that

someone does find out what causes this bug so those that can't return their

phones will have something to do.

in my opinion, and trying to NOT be bias, Motorola makes the best phone. No

one builds a phone as solid as motorola's phones (physical hardware).

Everything else feels like a cheap plastic toy.
