Audio Output almost silent when trying to play music??

2010-05-25, 16:43 PM
When I try to play a song from pandora, slacker radio, and/or mp3s that are on my phone with the audio volume turned all the way up, the music is almost silent...It seemed to have begun right after I got the new update for the phone. Before the update it was extremely loud! Has this happened to anyone? I don't understand it because my ringer still works fine. I have to put the speaker up to my ear to even hear a whisper of the music. It also plays pretty low when I use an auxilary cord in my car. Should I reset my phone? I would rather not go through the hassle of reseting everything if there is an easier way to fix this...or no way to fix it...thanks

Have you done a battery pull just to reboot everything?  Worth a try.  Could also go to the market and grab a volume app to see if you can make any changes there...

I have done the battery pull. Did nothing...did a hard reset last night and it's still the same. Plus now my ringer and notification noises are just as quiet! I can't find any apps for volume that I can use without rooting my phone first.

Hi,

Let me ask you this, and it's probably a dumb question but have you checked the "Media Volume" setting in Settings?.  Also most Radio APs have seperate volume controls. Go to Settings-Sounds & Ringtones-Media Volume

It sounds like the phone needs a factory reset which is a little different than just popping the battery out. Search factory reset to find out how to do it. Maybe something else is wrong, but I haven't heard of that before...

As I said, I did a factory reset on my own...and it made it even worse. It is now my ringer as well. It will be very loud for about an hour, and then go down to silent. Not actual silent though, it's as if the volume was set at level 1 when really its set the highest it goes.

Try the tone picker app. You can control all your sound setting from there and pick default ringtone and notification sound.
