Re: Devour: Exchange Sync, Can Inbox folders be sync'd?

2010-03-30, 14:40 PM

@nascar

Sorry, again GAL isn't natively supported by Corporate Sync. Touchdown apparently supports this as well. I'm not on Exchange anymore as we use Google Apps now. I do have an exchange test account still and I do have a Touchdown license.  I believe there is a trial so you could try out Touchdown and if you like it you could download.

I don't think the DROID Corporate Sync currently supports GAL. I'll have to ask about this.

Re: Devour: Exchange Sync, Can Inbox folders be sync'd?

I had multiple subfolders as well, but once i moved all my subfolders Somewhere else they all worked. I'll send you a picture of what they look like now.

Before i got my phone, all of those folders were subfolders in my inbox. I could get those messages to sync as well as send out and everything, but i had no luck with inbox, it would remain blank. Once i created my new folder Inbox folders and moved my subfolders into it and deleted, power cycled, and readded my exchange account, My inbox messages appeared just fine. Let me know if this makes better sense.

Alright I see what you are saying. Thank you for providing the image, it was very helpful. However, the user profile that I "tested" has several folders (approx. 10 - busy guy) under the inbox and they were all synched to the phone with out any additional 'prodding'. I will try the method you mentioned and see if it works. Thanks!

It is just a weird setting from what i can see. I could see all messages in my folders when i had them in my inbox, I have around 30 folders myself so i understand the importance of them, But like i say once i moved them, i can get those messages as well as my inbox settings, It's like the phone doesn't recgonize the inbox if subfolders are present under the inbox.

Mark is correct that GAL is not supported on the current version of Corporate Sync available with DEVOUR.  It's absolutely a feature that Motorola plans to add to future versions of MOTOBLUR -- keep an eye on this forum and other locations for updates as they become available.

Thanks,

Warren @ Moto

Can you give us even a crumb of hope as to when an update might be coming down the tubes to us? i'm dying for 2.1 with the hope of pinch to zoom being included.

@nascar

Glad you're excited about an upgrade. I don't have anything to share at this time. I did update the page today as I just got word about another Android phone. Devour will be updated on the page when I get word about it as well.

Re: Devour: Exchange Sync, Can Inbox folders be sync'd?

Nascar,

I'm not an Exchange expert but I briefly spoke with some Motorola IT folks who are.  At the risk of adding more confusion to the thread, they were not able to duplicate your experience.    One of them did a quick test with his own unit and an Exchange 2007 account, attempting to duplicate the use case of:

  • inbox contains emails
  • inbox also contains subfolders, each of which contains emails
  • can DEVOUR sync and see all emails, both within the inbox and the subfolders
  • answer = yes (confirmed on both Exchange 2003 and 2007)

So there may be a non-device-side reason for the behavior you're experiencing.  However, with that said, it sounds like you found a solution for your immediate need, which is great.

I'm sharing the above info in case you wanted to continue to debug on your side and/or for the benefit of other folks reading the thread.

Thanks,

Warren @ Moto

Re: Devour: Exchange Sync, Can Inbox folders be sync'd?

i appreciate all of your help in this. in the picutre i sent in a prior message. i showed 3 folders with each having subfolders. i have roughly 30 folders. when they were in my inbox. i had only 2 with the last 7 just beind a subfolder without the additional other folder. only 4 of those 7 was showing so maybe i had too many.  maybe there is a limit with 1.6. also i am using exchange 2007. i had tried over the weekend to move all folders. but somehow i didnt notice that my mcafee virus scan added a spam filter inside my mailbox. that was the only folder i deleted today and it started working. could of been a permission issue with that folder but being a subfolder i wouldnt of thought it mattered. i do know it was either in total i had too many messages or folders or my empty mcafee spam filter permissions that caused my issue. and either way it is working now. but if you guys want me to attempt to move my folders back to the inbox like i prefer i am willing to. just let me know.
