DEXT: Adobe flash browser plugin.

2009-10-23, 18:50 PM

Would be great to see support for this handset.

Is it likely that Motorola will introduce compatibility in a future firmware update?

Thanks.

Malamalaki-

Thanks for the feedback that you're looking for Adobe Flash Player support. I'm aware that there is another Android phone being launched with Flash capabilities so there may be an exclusive agreement with Adobe and that manufacturer for a period time before making a downloadable player available to other manufacturers.

Thanks for the reply Mark.

Yeah, I think HTC collaborated with Adobe for the Hero to support flash.

Lets hope the wait is not too long.

Cheers.

Being an android user since RC33, and  developer I have alot of insigt on this.

Android 2.0 is the only version of Android (other then Hero Currently) with flash support. Its not even finalized yet. If MOTO does not update your Cliq to Android 2.0 you will never have flash support. Google has been working with Adobe to support flash for some time. Unfotunately the G1's hardware caused a ton of lag when trying to use flash. So google and adobe never released it.

With the new batch of android phones having faster processors and more ram Google and Adobe are planning to release Flash for Android 1st quater of 2010 in the Android 2.0 operating system only. Currently HTC Hero users are the only people with flash support cause HTC worked with Adobe to bring Flash to the phone. Unless MOTO does the same for the Cliq you wont have flash unless you get an Android 2.0 device.

Sorry to rain on your parade
