Re: D2G mp3 music skipping

The only one that does not pop and skip from all I tried (and I did quite a few) is the PowerAMP. But that comes at cost - 4+ bucks. PowerAMP has its own buffer which you can control to deal with the issue. I've been using for a month now and I am enjoing much better sound quality. I can now say I can even take a bet I can recognize when music comes from stock player or PowerAMP just after few seconds of listening.

The good news is there is 15 day trial you can get for free - try it if you want to compare.

leobg, PowerAMP is indeed the best.  Did you set the buffer to "Large" or "Huge" to get rid of the skip?

Initially I had it on Auto. Then once while listening, at the beginning, during the evaluation I remember, it skipped (just once actually), so I changed the buffer to 'huge'. It never skipped ever since. And I did not find any adverse effect, so I kept it at huge.

Re: D2G mp3 music skipping

I wish it didn't skip at all and shouldn't have to buy an app just to make the music work. My phone stopped having this problem for awhile and now its back, randomly.  I thought adjusting the audio effects would help and they did the first time. This time its still causing a little bit of popping and crackling. I hope this is part of the update whenever it comes.

I am not trying to advocate PowerAMP, or sound like a mad meloman, but thanks to the integrated equalizer and the adjustments you can make, music sounds totally different in stock (and most other players) v.s. PowerAMP. Depends on the music system you hook the phone to (I use that exclusively in the car while driving), that could give huge imact (fine tuneable equalizer). You hear and notice details in the music you wouldn't with standard player. But afterall just the fact it is not popping and hissing every now and then (which drives me crazy!) is totally worth the money app costs!

Yeah that's true, what works for you works and if that's helping you fix your problem, then that's all that matters and I am all for it.

I wish PowerAMP integrated with phone the way stock player does. Lost the (super convenient) active shortcut in car dock. No lock screen controls either. Well - nothing is perfect

PowerAMP doesn't work for me. I installed it, and the stock music player is still the same - it pauses, then randomly shuffles to a different song on my library everytime I plug headphones into the jack.

This mp3 skipping problem is driving me insane! I have yet to exchange it for a new one, but it looks like a problem all D2G's have. The music player is the most important application, how the hell did they screw this up? Motorola, I lost faith in you after I bought the RAZR and now you are letting me down again. PLEASE fix this problem soon, somehow! I should have just bought the Iphone.

PowerAMP has a lock screen widget you can choose from the Settings menu that lets you operate the player without unlocking the phone.  I use it all the time.

Wish I could cure the skipping issue too.  I use the music player when I run and have to hold the phone a certain way to get reliable operation. - MarkC

Essie, you wont fix stock player by installing PowerAMP. Stop using stock player and start using PowerAMP. Stock player only motorola can fix.
