DROID2: How do I change personalized greeting on opening screen

2011-05-25, 13:32 PM

When I got the Droid 2.2, last November, I read over the setup instructions and was able to personalize the greeting on the opening screen. Now that I have changed a few things in my life, I would like to revise the opening greeting. I'm talking about the greeting that is on the unlock screen when you power up the droid. I have read extensively the setup instructions, the forums and such and cannot find the option I used to set it up originally. I thought it was in "settings/display" but the only settings there now are Brightness, Autorotate Screen, Animation, Screen Timeout, Wallpaper Settings and Roaming Banner.

Did an update wipeout my ability to change this greeting?

The only recollection of a lock screen "greeting" that I recall is something of the order of the "If found, contact <someone>)" message and I think this was part of an application ("Lookout" comes to mind).  It's not native to the OS.  There are other apps in the market that have lock screen message capabilites too. - MarkC

Thanks for refreshing my ancient memory!! I installed AVG Antivirus after the purchase and found the app there. I appreciate your quick and helpful response.

barnacle, you're welcome.  Not to hijack the thread, but what do you think of the AVG app?  Just curious.  (Haven't used it.) - MarkC

I like AVG and have used it in my business until lately. It seems sufficient, checks new software and downloads for viruses seamlessly and with little interruption. I seem to be happy with it for now.
