Re: Gingerbread is Here?

Please do not misunderstand; I did not mean for my post to sound as if I was complaining. I am a member of the MFN, but I cannot share information I have been entrusted with due to confidentiality restrictions. I was merely commenting on the recent information provided by Verizon Wireless. Thank you for your response Matt.

I have to agree with Matt that I don't understand why more people don't sign up for the MFN.  The pace of change astounds me, but I'm in. - MarkC

The pace of change????? When was the last update from Motorola for the Droid 2, January? The pace of change is only with technology, not with upkeep of current platforms, IMO. Now I work in manufacturing and R&D of product. We constantly are looking for ways to update our current product lines while researching new and improved product. The company I work for manufacturers new prototype product and in conjunction we are also updating our legacy product line software to the extent that the hardware will support. The Droid 2 can and will run Gingerbread with no issues, Google it.

The issue I have is the length of time it has taken to get Gingerbread to a state that Motorola feels we can have it, if soak tests are being performed. It took less time for my old Original Droid to get Froyo. Matter of a month or two if I remember correctly.

Oh and btw Icecream Sandwich is around the corner, October I do believe. While I dont expect motorola to put out some Icecream for the Droid 2, based on it specs, but how long until the Droid 3 gets it, 8 months a year, after all the Droid 3 wasn't released with gingerbread but was capable of running it at the time.

I am apart of the MFN, recieved an e-mail, but sadly my phone wasn't chosen for whatever evaluation is in progress. I just hope it is worth waiting for, and Motorola fixed the ongoing repetative issues that cause us to factory reset our phones to fix them every couple of months because there is no hardware fix. My 2 cents.

Sure hope they put this out before the holiday weekend!

Yet to see anyone get the update, but looking forward do it. With the last update on the Droid X it has been very stable on my other phone.

Droid 3 was released with Gingerbread.  Where are your sources that say it wasn't?

Got the soak test update last night.  Liking it so far and no issues.  For some reason not enabled to access the posting site for experiences yet.  One I know it's cool...I'll post my thoughts here as well.

Number one rule about soak test.  Don't talk about soak test

Does anyone know where to go to provide feedback for the update soak test? I received the update but encounter an error everytime I try to install it.

Does anyone know how long a soak test will last before they make the update available to everyone?
