Motorola XT860 (Droid 3) Bell Canada - Bootloop

2020-08-27, 14:42 PM

Hello, new here.

I have this beloved phone, the Motorola XT860 (quite old now, back from 2011), that is unfortunately completely stuck on bootloop. Whenever I power it ON, it doesn't go pass the Motorola logo (M Dual Core Technology).

The only things I can do are:

  • Accessing Recovering mode
  • Accessing Fastboot mode

I have tried various things from the Recovery mode.

  • Soft Reset
  • Hard Reset
  • Factory Reset
  • Wipe Cache and Data

No success. Nothing.

Whenever I boot it again, it still gets stuck at the same Motorola logo.

So I was thinking since I can access the Fastboot mode, try and perform a clean install of the firmware. Fortunately, after spending lots of time on XDA developers forum, I have been able to install proper Motorola Drivers on my computer so at least it recognises it on Fastboot mode from the Windows Device Manager.

Now I also can see it with RSD Lite software (I have Windows 7).

The only issue is... where can I find a new ROM to install?

  • I could install it on the SD Card and from the Recovery mode update it from there.
  • Or install it through RSD Lite.

But where could I get such firmware. Original stock one (updated Gingerbread 2.3.6).

Or maybe, there is a completely other alternative I haven't thought of?

Anyway, please help out with any mean you know, I will be grateful.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. All the links I could find on XDA Developers forum are dead, I already conctacted Bell, Motorola... Still, no success.

OK I managed to find the ROM and did a proper install thanks to RSD Lite. It works like the first day. No sweat.

For whoever might be interested in this:
